Agenda:
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT:
Matt Strauch informed the board that he will be resigning at the end of 2007 because he has added duties
at Bas Bleu that are taking a lot more of his time. Matt informed the board about a meeting with City
Council, which is open to the public. It is on October 23 from 4:30 — 5:30 at 215 N. Mason Street. The
topic is to increase awareness for youth.
Matt will continue to invite Lisa Poppaw to the meetings.
RESTRUCTURING DISCUSSION:
Matt and Lee will meet to talk about the restructuring and give City Council information on the new
committee structure.
WORK PLAN DISCUSSION:
The 2007 work plan consisted of the following:
• A complete inventory of existing city programs and facilities for youth. Erin is writing a memo
about this.
0 Speaker series — There were 3 speakers in 2007.

• Youth information sources forwarded to City Council
• Develop a mission statement and bylaws
• Explore liaisons within the city — Parks and Recreation, other city departments, ASCSU, and City
Council.
In grading the completion of this work plan, it was decided that regarding the inventory , Erin was writing
a memo. The speaker series was good, but there was some difficulty in finding other topics. Matt had
talked to council about youth information sources, and although there were some liaisons with various
groups this needed to be explored further. Finally nothing had been done on developing a mission
statement or bylaws.
Erin Rooney sent her ideas to Matt for the 2008 Work Plan
• Drug problems
• Academics
• Scholarship awareness
• Art in the community
• Gangs
• YAB awareness
• More relationships with individual schools and Poudre School District
Matt Strauch's ideas for the 2008 Work Plan
• Complete the reorganization and develop a mission statement and bylaws
• More speakers
• Develop awareness of Youth Advisory Board
The rest of the meeting was spent getting ideas from the other board members about the work plan.
• Speaker series — continue this and have it open to the public. Learn what other boards and other
city departments are doing in regards to youth.
• YAB awareness — have a creative writing contest for youth sponsored by the board. Try to get the
selections printed in the media.
• Reorganization of the YAB and develop a mission statement and bylaws
• Develop more relationships with schools through information sharing and liasonships.
• Promotion of youth related opportunities, eg. scholarships, jobs, community service and
volunteerism.
These items were prioritized as follows:
1) Reorganization
2) Speaker series
3) YAB awareness
