II. Public Participation
Don Wells opened the meeting for questions from the guests.
• Ed Krolick asked about representation to the City Council — Don Wells responded
that the liaison to SAB is the Mayor and that the charge to the SAB is to advise
the City Council of concerns of seniors.
• Gene Wooldridge expressed a concern about the pedestrian crosswalks near The
Winslow that need to be painted. Bud Herin said he would speak to Eric Bracke
with the City and report the problem.
• Roslyn Brodsky asked about a book listing services for seniors. Marjorie
McTaggart reported that "The Yellow Book" is compiled and distributed annually
by the Office on Aging. The book lists local resources for seniors. Don Wells
volunteered to pick some up from the Senior Center and deliver to The Winslow.
Peggy McGough reported that The Winslow staff could pick up new books at the
Bridging the Gap Senior Network Lunch as well as other information of value to
seniors.
• Don Wells asked how important transportation services are to the residents of The
Winslow. Residents reported that The Winslow provides them with
transportation and, therefore, community services are not as important.
• Betty Anne Hosted asked about transportation for Wellington people. Peggy
McGough reported about "Latimer Lift" which provides transportation assistance
outside Fort Collins for Dial -A -Ride and Transfort.

Herin responded that the expansion will primarily include areas for fitness and
wellness as well storage areas.

A. Liaison Reports
• Dennis Kaz has been making contact with ministers telling them about the
SAB and suggested letters be sent to the churches in Fort Collins. He also
volunteered to be in charge of this project. Peggy Bowers suggested
contacting the Coloradoan to do an article about the Senior Advisory
Board. Marjorie McTaggart volunteered to contact the Coloradoan.
• Kathy Schuster and Judy Vasiliauskas attended the Transit Task Force
meeting which was formed in response to the Dial -A -Ride issues. The
Task Force is looking into grants. Additionally, they are working to
increase the number of volunteers for SAINT. Gary Thomas, head of
Saint, said SAINT is not interested in taking on night service and they
cannot deal with wheelchairs. He said he would mentor another group
wanting to take this on. The next meeting will be the 23 d of June.
• Marcia Richards attended the UniverCity Connections reception at CSU
(on behalf of the SAB). UniverCity is working on a coalition among
CSU, Old Town and the Poudre River to make Fort Collins a better place
to live. The movement will go in to the second phase in the fall which
will include funding and implementation.
• Bud Herin reported on activity of the Senior Center Expansion
Committee. The committee is trying to get 5016 designation. The group
reviewed the proposed bylaws. Hopefully the 5016 will be in place by
early fall, at which time they can accept donations.
• Joe Bieker would like to get involved with the Expansion Committee. Joe
also asked the Board's opinion on identifying with a cause for seniors
giving back to the community. Joe will look further into this.
Peggy McGough reported on Senior Center activities. The Fitness Day
Luncheon attracted eighty plus people including Council members Ben
Manvel, Lisa Poppaw, and Wade Troxell. The Cemetery Stroll will honor
past and present mayors of Fort Collins and will be held on September 23
at Grandview Cemetery. The State of the Community Luncheon hosted
by United Way and held at The Ranch will be on June 14, 2007. The
event includes a discussion of emerging issues for the community and a
volunteer award. This year, Mona Nickerson, Senior Center volunteer for
more than 30 years will be honored with the Senior Volunteer Excellence
Award. The Salute to Seniors event will also be held at the Ranch on
September 12, 2007.
Peggy McGough reported that the SAB outreach meeting scheduled for
September will be held at NACC.
