HomeMy WebLinkAboutCitizen Review Board - Minutes - 02/14/2007Citizen Review Board Meeting ORIONAL CIC Room, City Hall February 14, 2007 Present: Dennis Baker, Jim Dubler, Chris Kahler, Glenn Strunk Absent: Harry Edwards & David Evans not present Staff: Lt. Jim Broderick, Sgt. Russ Reed and Angelina Sanchez -Sprague, Recorder. The meeting was called to order at 5:08 p.m. by Vice Chair Dennis Baker. Minutes: Glenn Strunk made a motion to approve the January 10, 2007 CRB minutes. Jim Dubler seconded the motion. There was no discussion and the motion passed 4-0. Voice Mail Reports: • CRB Voice Mail Message Report. No report. • Bias Policing Voice Mail Report. Jim Broderick reported that Sgt. Reed checked the Bias Policing Voice Mail box that day and there were no messages. Public Input: Elaine Boni of the Human Relations Commission reported the HRC is updating the nomination form for the Human Relations Award and will be soliciting nominations for the 2007 awards in the near future. This year, there are two new nominating categories—Police/Human Services and Non -profits. She hopes the CRB will consider submitting nominations. Ann Berry in attendance. When asked for comments, Ms. Berry reported she had participated in the Citizen Police Academy last fall, was interested in serving on the Board, and wanted to attend a board meeting. She has submitted an application for the vacant CRB position to the City Clerk's office. New Business: venms tsaKer reported that both he—and-1 the Harry will be out of town at the time of the regular March meeting —March 14. Since it is required that officers be selected by March for the upcoming year, he asked how the Board wanted to proceed —continue to meet on the regularly scheduled day or select an alternate meeting date? (Dennis knew availablethat Harry would be either the week before or the week after March 14.) Me bers compared calendars and decided he bet Possible time forrescheduling the meeting would be Wednesday, March 21. Dennis asked members to think about nominations they may want to put forward next month Chris Kahler made a motion to move the March meeting to March 21 at 6 p.m. Glenn Strunk seconded the motion. There was no discussion and the motion passed 4-0.
