Old Business
'06 Accomplishments and '07 Work plan
These will be the topic of discussion for the November meeting. Members were asked to
review the accomplishments for 2006 and participate in an on-line discussion for both the
accomplishments and the '07 work plan. Barb will start the dialogue and pull together
comments for the work plan.
Newsletter and Intern Update
Beth and Barb have revised the intern job descriptions in the hopes of tapping into CSU
for assistance with the newsletter the Commission is interested in beginning. Commission
members were asked to review the job descriptions prior to them being distributed to
various offices and departments on campus, including Women's Studies, Journalism and
Graphic Design. Barb will distribute the descriptions to Commission members.
Barb mentioned to Kathay Rennals and Peggy Reeves that the Commission is trying to
create a newsletter. They both expressed interest in the possibility of being featured.
It was suggested that during the remainder of 2006, the Commission focus on finishing
the plans for the newsletter, with a publication date set for early 2007. Any member who
has copies of the information Paula compiled is asked to share it with the others.
Essay Contest
Barb forwarded to Stacey the PSD contact information. Contacts need to be completed
prior to the December break. The Commission agreed at a previous meeting that the
contest will be open to home school students, private school students and PSD students.
Pat pulled together information about the home school contacts and the private schools
which have junior high grades (7-9). She will share that information with Stacey and the
other Commission members.
The contest information can be posted on the Commission's webpage. The details need to
be given to Suzanne for posting.
Additional sites for publication were brainstormed — and include the Coloradoan, the
Weekly Chronicle, the PSD website. Shelby is working with the PSD webmaster on a
different project and volunteered to work with him on getting this information listed.
Barb suggested that prior to posting the information, it be authorized by Cindy and
Priscilla. Shelby will talk with Stacey about the best way to get the information to
Priscilla prior to posting.
