V. Marlys Sittner — Update on Transfort/Dial-A-Ride —
• Marlys explained the budget process for 07, and 08. Because of large cuts in the
budget, it has been challenging for Dial -A -Ride to determine how many people
can be served with the amount of dollars appropriated.
Marlys showed and explained the different forms used to qualify riders.
Applications were sent out to every person on the data base. Some people
responded, others were never heard from. Extra staff was hired to call the people
that didn't reply - every effort was made to contact all passengers. As of today,
they have received 850 completed applications. Additionally, they have contacted
300 people who said they were not going to fill out the application, and were not
interested in using Dial -A -Ride.
• Peggy asked how many youth (17 years and under) were using Transport.
Marlys answered that about 22% of overall rider ship were in that category. The
Bohemian Foundation pays for this service.
• The City grandfathered in the existing 84 out of service area residents but did
shorten the hours of weekend service.
• Latimer Lift will soon be available to service county areas.
• A study committee is working to solve existing problems.
• Marlys offered to set up a booth at the Senior Center to provide travel training to
those who are interested.
