The most important continuing responsibilities include the designation of Fort Collins Landmarks, final decision -making authority for design review of locally landmarked buildings, and the Demolition/Alteration Review process, allowing public input on the demolition or alteration of non -designated properties fifty years old or older. The Commission will meet approximately 24 times throughout the year to decide upon design review applications, landmark designations, landmark loan applications and special projects review. Continuing to implement the goals and Historic Resources Preservation Program primary focus. The following is a list implemented in 2007: I. Survey and Identification actions contained in the Plan (HRPPP) will be the of actions that will be A. Review results of historic building surveys. B. Perform the design review function of the Colorado State Tax Credit for Historic Preservation for properties located within the Downtown Development Authority boundary. III. Design Review Function A. Review requests for design changes to locally landmarked buildings. IV. Landmark Designation Program A. Pursue landmark designations. V. Planning A. Review and comment on issues affecting historic properties, particularly implementation of City Plan redevelopment policies. B. Provide professional advice to staff on proposed voluntary neighborhood design standards for specific architectural styles and property types. C. Pursue preserving and restoring significant --Ghost Signs'' in Fort Collins. VI. Education and Awareness A. Continue community outreach by providing technical information and education concerning the available financial incentives for historic preservation. B. Continue the "Friends of Preservation" award program.
