In discussion of other adult educational programs, Mr.Lollner.
reported:
rile employment possibilities for the licensed practical
nurses were excellent. There were two aides contacting
drop -outs of the preceding three years, encouraging them
to complete their high school and receive vocational
training.
That the existing labor laws prohibiting many jobs (hazardous
occupations) employing anyone under age 18, creates difficulty
in placing needy students.
That high school graduates are mare oriented to further
academic education, rather than vocational training. Statistics
show that 14 percent of U.S. positions need college training
and that 67 percent of Fort Collins graduates enter college.
That Poudre R-1 does have basic education courses designed
for non-English speaking people; up through acquiring the
G.E.U.
That in Larimer County 47 percent of residents (age 25 and
older) do not have higl. school diplomas. In the city of
Fort Collins there are 38 percent.
Ralph Braden reported that a check with Poudre R-1 revealed the
drop -out rate (grades 7-12) in 1967-68 schcol year was 2.7 percent.
Chairman Wilson appointed Mr. Dean Olsen and Mr. Gerald Templer to
serve as publicity committee.

Fathor Ostertag reported: Discrimination was reported by campus
minority group.
That the black students had rejected any offer of helf rrom
S.D.S. Their honesty and self discipline were commended by
Paner Ostertag. Ile recommended that a formal offer of any
resources of the City to aid in solving discrimination Pro-
blems be offered to Dr. Morgan.
That the University Human Relations Commission's new by-laws
provided that three faculty members and three student members
be nominated and elected by the student body, It also provides
for a Civil Service representative and one from the City Human
Relations Commr_ssion.

Chief Ralph Smith reported he had hoped to obtain scholarships far
two delegates to attend a Police a Police and Community Seminar at
Michigan State, but was unsuccessful.
Joe Coria reported that sometimes sophisticated patronizing (of
racial differences rosulted in discrimination, often hard to reccgnize.
The meeting was adjourned with the next meeting to be held at 7:30
p.m., May 12, 1969, in the City Council Chamber.
