mendations to the commission:
RECOMMENDATION TO THE FORT COLLINS HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION
The Human Resources Committee of the Fort Collins League
of Women Voters recommends that Mr. Robertson Lapp, Director
of the Denver Metro Fair Housing Center be invited to Fort
Collins to explain the operations of the Center and advise re-
garding the possibility of instituting a Fair Housing Center in
Fort Collins.
Community groups which would be interested in hearing Mr.
Lapp could be involved in planning such a meeting. The League
of Women Voters, the Social Action and Concerns Committee of the
Fort Collins Branch of the Women's International League of Peace
N M
and Freedom have expressed interest in exploring possibilities
of a Fair Housing Center.
Mrs. Albert Madsen, Chairman
Human Resources Committee
Fort Collins League of
Women Voters.
This was discussed favorably and the suggestion was made that the
Education Committee should meet with the committee from the League of
Women Voters to work out details for such a meeting.
The By -Laws of the Commission were reveiwed and discussed. Mr. John
David Sullivan reminded the group that precautions must be taken not to
divulge or make public any information that might lead to a lawsuit for
libel, etc.. against the Commission or City. The members should remember
the purpose of the Commission and their committee, abiding by the By-laws
in all their activities.
Mr. John David Sullivan asked if the Grievance and Investigation
Committee has been active in 1968. Mrs. Atherly reported that it had been
been with monthly meetings or more when necessary, minutes had been kept
and necessary recommendations made to the proper authorities.
Chief Ralph Smith suggested that the Commission ask the City Manager's
Secretary to mail cards to each Commission member a few days prior to each
Commission meeting reminding them of the of the meeting. Mr. Wilson asked
that this be done.
For a lack of a quorum, the meeting was adjourned. Next meeting,
August 11, 1969.
Respectfully Submitted,
Mrs. Walter Atherly
Acting Secretary
