The Board of Directors met in the Board Room at 4 P.M.
Mrs. Thornburg announced that the juvenile department will move into the new
quarters December 28 and 29. It was decided to close the Library during that
period. Later there will be "open house" for the public.
Mr. Strahle moved that the Library be authorized to close at noon the day before
Christmas and at 4 p.m. the day before New Year's. The motion was seconded and
carried. This decision is to be publicized by newspaper and radio.
There was a discussion concerning the charge of library cards. Mr. Strahle
moved that the fee of ten cents be cancelled and that twenty-five cents be
charged to replace a lost card beginning January 1, 1965.
Mrs. Garrison was appointed to represent the Library Board on the Executive
Council of the Friends of the Library. The next meeting of Friends of the
Library was set for Jam ary 11 at 1:30 p.m. in the Board Room.
Mr. Strahle announced that Miss Anna Baker had left a bequest of $500 to the
City and County Libraries, available when the estate is settled.
Two signs reading "Board Room" are to be put up on doors leading into the
Board Room: one on the hall side of the door leading from the hall into the
Board Toom, the other on the juvenile room side of the door leading from the
juvenile department into the kitchen. The Board Room is to be used for Board
meeting only but by special permission may be used for a function for a
retiring employee.
Mrs. Thornburg was instructed to.call Mr. Chet'Thompson urging that he repair
the lighting upstairs without further delay.
Mrs. Coffin was instructed to call Rodgers Heating concerning heat in the
juvenile room.
