The Library Board met in the Board Roomiat the Library at 4 p.m.
Mrs. Coffin gave a report on the Trustees' Conference held at the
Armstrong Hotel March 19 and 20.
After a discussion on activities of the Friends of the Library the
following decisions were made. Mr. Harvey moved that the Friends
of the Library be asked to publicize information concerning scholar-
ships for students interested in Library Science. The motion was
seconded and carried.
Mr. Strahle moved that the story hour held for young children by the
Friends of the Library not be Qxpanded and no further plans for the
story hour be made without approval of the Library Board. It is
understood that the story hour activities will terminate with the
close of school for summer vacation in June. The motion was seconded
and carried.
It was suggested that the Friends of the Library study new federal
laws concerning funds available for remodeling libraries and build-
ing new libraries.,
Mrs. Ward reported that Mrs. Flea and Mrs. Thornburg had gone to
Denver to buy books and had spent about $460 of,the,Grants-in-Aid
money, leaving a balance of about $300. .,
Mr. Strahle moved that Mrs. Thornburg set up a cash gift fund in
which gifts would be paid directly to the Library and used for books
at the descretion of the librarian. The motion was seconded and
carried.
Mrs. Thornburg reported that members of Beta Sigma,Phi wanted to
sell decorated Easter eggs in the Library-the,proceeds to be used
for juvenile books. Mr. Harvey moved that the Library Board reaf-
firm their previous decision of no posters being placed in the
Library and no sales being held in the Library. The motion was.
seconded and carried.
After a discussion of placing pictures of prominent citizens in
the Library it was decided that none should be accepted as the
wall space,is needed for shelves and other purposes.
No decision was made on the payment of CLA dues.
The meeting adjourned.
