Mrs. V* 0. Coffin presided at the regular monthly meeting of the Library
Board.
Mrs. Thornburg reported that school libraries are open on the following
schedule from 7 until 9 o'clock: Fort Collins High, Monday and Wednesday;
Peadre High, Tuesday and Thursday; Lincoln Junin High, Monday; Lesher Junior
High., Thursday. She reported no undue use of the public library by students to
date* The secretary was instructed to contact the superintendent of schools
to set up a meeting with his at which time it is hoped an evaluation may be
made of the new policy of keeping school libraries open*
The librarian reported acquisition of a new desk in the office and now
shelves on the mezzanine. The Board suggested Mrs. Thornburg contact the
County Commissioners immediately in segard to the county budget for 1966.
Reporting on the recent library convention in Denver, Mrs. Thornburg told
the Hoard that any censorship of books or periodicals would not be upheld
by the courts, based on a recent Supsase Court decision, She discussed
results of a survey which were discussed at the convention. The survey
recommends the establishment of five districts in the state with specific
requirements for their formation and the operation of libraries within the
districts. Informal discussion on this possibility followedo
