Mr Strahle seconded the motion which was passed. It was moved by Mr. Strahle and seconded by Mrs. Ronco that the regular December Board meeting be cancelled and that the president of the Board call a special meeting should it be necessary. The motion was passed. Mrs. Coffin introduced three visitors, Mrs. Alan Kob, Mrs. Herbert Reihl, and Mr. Bud Schoeler. In answer to questions by the visitors, Mrs. Thornburg reported that the County Library no longer qualified for state aid because of a lack of space, because of a lack of personnel with degrees in library science, and because of the lack of a five - member county library board. Mr. Strahle discussed for the visitors the background of the $10,000 budget out for the county library. He pointed out that the county had lost the income it had formerly acquired by collecting school taxes and income from interest on this money. Other county agencies also suffered a cut in funds for 1966. Mr. Strahle also explained the history and function of the county library, pointing out that the city Board has no jurisdiction over this county agency. The meeting was adjourned. Respectfully Submitted, Sarah L. Bennett, Secretary Present: Mesdames Coffin, Bennett, Ronco, Thornburg, Ward and Mr. Strahle.
