HomeMy WebLinkAboutLibrary Board - Minutes - 01/18/1966January 18, 1966 Mrs. Coffin presided at the regular meeting of the Library Board. A letter was read from Gordon Bennett, Deputy State Librarian, stating that Mrs. Evelyn Brewster of the state staff will make the preliminary survey of the city library which was requested by the City Manager. February 2 was suggested as a date for the survey. Mrs. Coffin reported that a copy of the Nelson Report, a survey of library facilities in Colorado, will be on file at the library and that Board members should make an effort to read it. Acting upon a request from the County Library Board., the City Board agreed to having county books processed at the city circulation desk, since the county circulation desk is closed. Mr. Strahle moved, "Pending a permanent solution of joint problems, books from the County Library may be checkd out at the city circulation desk. A $atron wishing adult county books will be asked to obtain a county library card and may check the maximum (6) number of books from the city adult circulation desk. Juvenile county books will be circulated from the juvenile city desk on adult county library cards only with a limit of six books per card. All circulation will be counted for the City Library and all overdues.will be processed by the City Library. This arrangement shall continue until April 1, 1966, or until such earlier date as a permanent arrangement for operation•of the two libraries is readed." Mrs. Ronco seconded the motion, which.passed.• Mrs. Thornburg was instructed -to contact Ronald Kupper of Salinas, California and ask him to come for an interview for the job of head librarian. Mr. Strahle suggested the Board offer to contribute $75 toward travel expenses unless Mr. Kupper is offered the job and •refuses •it.. . . • . . . Mrs. Thornburg announced the promotion of Kay McQuiddy from Librarian's Aide to Library Assistant. She also announced that due to•a.limited collection of juvenile books, and the extra pressure from having the county library closed, only six juvenile books may be with- drawn on an adult card..
