HomeMy WebLinkAboutLibrary Board - Minutes - 09/27/1966September 27, 1966
The Fort Collins Public Library Board met September 27 at 4:00 p.m. in the
Board Room.
Minutes of the August 23rd meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Webber reported that there had been no complaints on the recently enacted
three-week checkout plan for books and that the bookmobile service was
progressing well with good circulation.
The Board sanctioned Mr. Webber's attendance at the State Library Conference
in Pueblo on October 7 and 8.
A recent letter to City Manager Coffey, written for the Board by Mr. Strahle,
was read. It was stated in the letter that, although the City Library Board
wished to reaffirm its original budget of $75,000, the budget had been
revised as requested to a minimum of $68,065. Copies of the combined City -
Bookmobile budget of $84,565, which has been given to the City Council for
approval, were brought before the Board. It was decided that the members
of the Board, Mr. Webber, and any interested persons attend the Budget
hearing on October 6 at which time the Board would be prepared to defend
the original $75,000 city budget if it was deemed practical.
Since the Library budget does not include capital improvements as requested
originally the Board decided to ask for a private hearing to discuss the
possibility of a capital improvements fund to cover remodeling the present
County Library room into a periodical and reference room in 1967.
A letter presented from the State Library stated that the Fort Collins Public
Library could expect $2,380 from the State Grant for 1966-67.
The meeting adjourned at 5:00 p. m.
