HomeMy WebLinkAboutLibrary Board - Minutes - 09/17/1969Fort Collins Library Board September 17, 1969 Minutes of the meeting of July 30 were read and approved. Old business included additional reporting of the ALA Convention by Mr. Webber, particularly that there had been popular demand for new representation on old boards and committees. New business: Mr. Webber explained duty shifts and new employees made due to resigna- tions of staff. Mrs. Bennett had made a telephone poll of the Board members between the July and September meetings with regard to membership in the High Plains Library Systems.. It had been agreed that Fort Collins should pass up the membership. Mr. Webber reported on the budget as revamped by the City Committee. Items which had been drastically cut were the deletion of the $1600 for McNaughton Service, the reduction of the book budget from $25,000 to $14,000, and for periodicals from $1500 to $1300. Also reduced was the request for $5200 for Structures and Improvements (enclosing space between wings on the north side for storage, and interior painting) to $1500 which would cover only the painting. After considerable discussion it was agreed that a copy of the original budget request be sent to each City Commissioner with a cover letter of explanations so he might understand what had already happened to the proposed Library Budget when the revised budget was formally presented for consideration. Present: Mrs. Bennett Mr. Watrous Mrs. Henry Mr. Webber Mrs. Ronco Mr. Williams Mrs. Thornburg _ Respectfully submitted, Lois H. Henry, Secretary
