Minutes of the meeting of Oct. 11, 1969, were read andapproved.
The old business reported was the closed meeting with the City
Council on October 16 which was particularly concerned with membership
in the high Plains Library District and in the budget.
Following a discussion of the tine and labor involved in the
book auctions, Mrs. Henry moved that the Friends of the Library be
contacted about the possibility of their ta$ing over the auction
activity; and if they were unwilling the activity should be given up.
Firs. Ronco seconded the motion and it was passed.
A general discussion was held regarding paper backs as opposed
to hard back bindings, and whether paper backs might provide more for
money invested.
Mr. Webber was authorized to ask for application forms for
joining the nigh Plains bystem for the second half of 1969-1970.
Balance in the Special Fund as of this date: 8809.00.
Mr. Webber was authorized to close the Library at noon on the
days preceeding Christmas and New Years Days, and to operate with
reduced staff on the two week days following each holiday, closing
at 6:00 p.m.
Mr. Webber extended an invitation to an Open House at their
home on Dec. 20 from 6 to 10,
rersonnel changes were reported --resignation of Miss Stroh, the
change in classification of Linda Barrett from pgge to Library aid,
and Mrs. Hobbs to take Mrs. Whiting's place in January. Application
of a lady educated in r'ormosa with an M.S. in library science from
the U. of Oregon was noted.
Mr. Webber reported that a demonstration d talking books was
available.
The Board adjourned until the regular meeting day in January
unless a called meeting should be required.
