HomeMy WebLinkAboutLibrary Board - Minutes - 02/18/1970• February 18, 1970 The City Library Board meeting was called to order by Mrs. Bennett, the President. Minutes of the previous meeting had been forwarded to each Board member so formal reading was dispensed with. The only matter of old business was a request from North Eventide for bookmobile service. This was refused because the policy is that the service shall not be granted inside the city limits. Mr. Webber reported that Dennis Hawes had been employed as a night supervisor at $80 per moath to take care of disciplinary problems that were developing. Mr. Hawes is a Junior at C.S.U. After discussion Mr. Watrous moved that the Board accept the offer of display material made by the Arts and Humanities Council. The material may be put on display at the discretion of the Librarian, and the insurance is to be arranged for by the Council. Mrs. Ronco seconded the motion and it was accepted. Mrs. McQuiddy, President of the Friends of the Library, was present to express their desire to become active in behalf of the Library, and she presented the following suggestions for projects: 1. A catalog of the framed print collection with color photograph and a critique of each, by AAUW. 2. That Friends of the Library take over book auctions for the Library, the receipts to be used primarily for the Gold Star Section. 3. Catalogue the records provided by record companies. 4. Continue the story hours. 5. Procure record player for the children's room. 6. Provide more films for the children. Also present at the meeting was Mr. Prilliman from the High Plains Library System. He answered some of the questions raised by Board members, and explained that others would be worked out as the System was developed. State and federal money are the sources of financial backing for the System. It was agreed by the local board that Mr. Watrous be recommended to the City Council for appointment as i our representative on the High Plains Council. The meeting adjourned until the regular time on March 18, 1970. Respectfully submitted, Lois H.
