January 20, 1971
The Fort Collins Public Library Board met in the Children's Room at 7:30 p.m. with
all members present.
Minutes of the meeting of November 18 were read and approved with change of a�rouats
available from County funds as follows:
$ 800.00 Bookmobile operation
13,200.00 Salaries
1,500.00 Books
15,500.00 Total (Paragraph 8 of the Agreement)
Mr. Sorbie of the CSU Art Department was present to outline the proposed series of
free lectures, A Survey of the History of Visual Art. These 8 lectures are to be
sponsored by the library, beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1971. Mr. Williams'
motion that the Board approve the offer was seconded by Mrs. Ronco and unanimously
passed. The Board also moved a vote of thanks to Mr. Sorbie for his offer.
A gift to the children's library of $200 from the Poudre R-1 SAC drive was reported.
Mr. Webber reported the Friends of the Library had secured Mr. Robert Brown again as
speaker for Library Week.
A revision of the dress code for library workers was discussed and the following was
approved:
"All female employees will be required to wear skirts, dresses or
pant suits if desired (no culottes, slacks, or pant -dresses) except
in special circumstances on the bookmobile.
"It is assumed that staff members will dress in a manner befitting the
dignity of the Library, and all extremes should be avoided. Neatness
and cleanliness are essential.
"Supervisors will be expected to suggest more conventional attire when
staff members appear in clothing or in styles apt to cause criticism by
the public."
The Board discussed the desirability of setting limits on salaries for various staff
classifications. Detailed consideration will be given at a later date.
Mr. Watrous reported on current status of High Plaines Library System, that members
of the Weld County staff (Mrs..Betty Adcock and Mrs. Luella Kinnison) would fill
in as director until a replacement was.found for Mr. Prilliman.
