The Board of the Fort Collins Public Library met in regular session at 7:30 p.m.
February 23, 1972, in the children's room. Present were Mrs. Sarah Bennett,
Mrs. Louise Ror.co, :Mrs. Lois Henry, Mr. Frank Johnson, Mr. David Watrous, Mrs. Grace
Thornburg and Xr. Larry Webber.
Minutes of the meeting of January 19, 1972, were read and approved.
Under o-d business, Mr. Johnson moved that the Delano Scott bequest and interest be
placed in a two year certificate of deposit at 6% with the Home Federal Savings,
interest to accumulate in the account. Mr. Watrous seconded the motion and it was
unanir„ously passed.
The secretary was instructed to send a letter of appreciation to Mr. John Sorbie for.
his conducting of the art lectures. Mr. Webber reported several books on art were
to be designated in appreciation of Mr. Sorbie's work. Attendance had averaged 20.
Mr. Webber presented, as new business, the desireability of having a city -owned vehicle
assigned for library use. Correspondence with Mr. Coffey indicated it might be
possible if authorized by the Board if they felt the budget could be arranged. It was
deemed inadvisable to leave such a car overnight at the library. Charge for use of a
car would be made at the rate of 11G per mile. A motion by Mr. Johnson that the
Library lease a car from the city pool, the librarian to park it at his residence at
night, was seconded by Mr. Watrous. Mr. Watrous moved that the motion be tabled until
the next meeting to determine if this procedure would meet city regulations. This motion
was seconded by Mrs. Ronco and unanimously passed.
Mr. Webber reported the Story Hour Workshop was being arranged to meet at Poudre R1
conference room with lunch at the Country Club. Another workshop on "Oral History", to be
conducted by Mrs. Enid Thompson of the Colorado State Historical Society, to run
concurrently but in the magazine room of the Library has been proposed. The Board
authorized Mr. Webber to carry out the program.
Lectures proposed by Mr. Orville A. Parsons on Indians of the Americas, tentatively on
March 8 and 22 were also approved.
A trial use of the bookmobile one night a week at Putnam School when the School library
would be open was discussed. Mrs. Henry moved that the project be tried, the motion
was seconded and carried.
The next regular meeting will be held on March 15, 1972.
