:he Board of the Fort Collins Public Library met in regular session at 7:30 p.m. on
March 15 in the children's room. Present were Mrs. Sarah Bennett, Mrs, Louise
Zonco, Mrs. Lois Henry, Mr. Frank Johnson, Mr. David Watrous, and Mr. Larry Webber.
Reading of the minutes of the meeting of February 23, 1972 was dispensed with.
`:r. Johnson reported the Scott money had been invested, as directed, in the Home
Federal Savings.
Mr. tdebber reported use of his personal car for library business had amounted to
113.8 miles, or $12.52 for the past month, and that home to business mileage
amounted to 6 miles per day which would amount to approximately 1,500 miles per
year or $165. The City has no written policy regarding use of city -owned vehicles
by employes. Mrs. Thornburg estimated use of her car for library business would
amount to about $3.00 per month.
Mr. Watrous moved that the Board authorize arrangements for use of a city car for
the library, and that portion of cost assignable to home -business use be considered
when the subject of the librarian's salary comes up. Mr. Johnson seconded the
motion. It was passed on a 4 to 1 vote.
Mr. Johnson moved that the Assistant Librarian be reimbursed at $5.00 per month for
use of her own car on library business. Mrs. Ronco seconded and the motion passed
unanimously.
Mr. Webber reported the tentative program for evening use of the bookmobile at
Putnam School would start April 8, the hours to be 7 to 8:30.
It was decided inquiries regarding republication of the Watrous history would be
referred to the D.A.R.
The Board unanimously recommended that Mrs. Sarah Bennett be re -appointed to the
Board by the City Council.
Mr. Webber reported that the Coloradoan had suggested that the Library join it in
having Bell and Howell microfilm the paper. Costs would be higher than those with
the Historical Society and their offer was not accepted.
Seed of shades on the south windows by the book stacks was noted. This will be
suggested to the Friends of the Library as a project.
Friends of the Library will have Maxwell Becker as speaker for their Library Week
program on April 20. His subject: "Glimpses of a Changing World". It will be
illustrated.
The Board agreed that late book fines be eliminated during Library Week.
Answers to the section on Community Relations as prepared by.Mrs.. Henry were
discussed.
The next regular meeting will be April 19th.
