PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
MINUTES -- REGULAR MEETING
September 1, 1976 -- 7:30 P.M.

PRESENT: BOARD -- Sarah Bennett, Wilson Wilmarth, Frank Johnson, Jr.,
Robert Burns, Anne Manvel; EMERITUS -- David Watrous; LIBRARY
STAFF -- Larry Webber, Jane Davis; CITY STAFF -- Mike Keefe.
The meeting was called to order by the president Sarah Bennett. The
minutes of the July 28th meeting were approved as distributed.
The Meeting Room Policy was approved as edited.
The Gift .Policy was approved as edited.
Mike Keefe reported on the new building. A few items are not completed and
moving dates are still not absolutely set.
Larry Webber brought the board up-to-date on the moving plans.
Sarah Bennett reported that the Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce would
host a Red Carpet Opening at the new library building October 29th at 9:00 a.m.
It is the consensus of the library board that it would be inappropriate to
have any type of non-public event as a pre -showing of the new library building.
A chamber music group from Rocky Mountain High School has contacted the
board about giving a short concert in the new library an evening during the
week of October 31st - November 6, Dedication Week. Plans will proceed for
this event.
Robert Burns moved that the library board approve the High Plains Regional
Library membership agreement. Anne Manvel seconded the motion. The motion
carried.
Robert Burns moved and Frank Johnson seconded a motion that the board endorse
conceptually the plan that the Fort Collins Public Library would serve as
a centralized purchasing and processing center for High Plains member libraries
not now served by the Weld County Processing Center, subject to board approval
of the final contract. The motion carried. Bob Burns agreed to report on
the contract to the board.
Larry Webber gave a short report on the status of the 1977 library budget.

Sarah Bennett reported on the meeting of the Art Advisory Committee held
August 19 to choose the design for the Columbia Savings Award of $500.
The winning design was displayed. The design, by artist Eldon Ward, will
be executed as soon as possible on the northwest wall in the Centennial
Area of the new building.
The meeting was then adjourned.
