PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
MINUTES -- REGULAR MEETING
OCTOBER 13, 1976 -- 7:30 p.m.

Robert Burns; LIBRARY STAFF -- Larry Webber, Jane Davis,
Robert Holzfaster.
The meeting was held in the conference room of the new library building.
Minutes of the previous meeting were presented and copies will be dis-
tributed for approval at the next meeting.
The Chamber of Commerce will host a Red Carpet Opening ceremony on
October 29th, at 9:00 a.m., to which the Library Board is invited.
Larry Webber announced that no further action had been taken on the pro-
posed central purchasing and processing agreement with the High Plains
Library System. He also announced that the revised 1977 budget had
gone to the City Council. The revision of the by-laws will be held over
until the November meeting.
Although the High Plains Regional Library System Council meeting on
October 6th was not attended by Fort Collins representativeBbecause of
the move, a short report was given. Wilson Wilmarth was nominated to
continue to represent this library on the Council. He was elected.
Sarah Bennett passed around a brochure for the Fort Collins Foundation.
These are available at City Hall.
After extensive discussion, Bob Burns moved that the new library building
should open on Monday, October 18th, at 9:00 a.m., although there was con-
cern that all the sub -contractors were not completely finished, and that
the Board wished to be kept informed of the progress, and to be involved
in acceptance of the building. Wilson Wilmarth seconded the motion. The
motion carried.
It was decided by consensus that the deadline for larger gifts to the new
library building to be printed in the dedication brochure be Friday, October
22nd.
The Board expressed the feeling that a special section in the newspaper
on the new library building would be ineffective after the building is
operating.

The program for the dedication will be worked out by Sarah Bennett,
Larry Webber, and Susan Jones.
It was announced that a musical program will be held in the library
lobby at 7:00 p.m., November 3rd, immediately followed by the November
Board meeting.
Debbie Ray and Eleanor Gale, representing the Library Fund Raising
Committee, met with the Board to discuss that group's policy. Frank
Johnson moved that the Library Board adapt the policy developed by
the fund raising committee to recognize contributions to the New Fort
Collins Public Library Building Fund, dated May 1976, and that, further,
contributions providing at least 100% of the cost of furnishing specific
areas be recognized by specific designation at the request of the donor.
Such designation shall be made under the guidelines set forth above.
Wilson Wilmarth seconded the motion. The motion carried.
It was announced that the dedication will be held October 31st, at
2:00 p.m.
The meeting was then adjourned.
