PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
MINUTES -- REGULAR MEETING
NOVEMBER 3, 1976 -- 7:30 p.m.

PRESENT: BOARD -- Sarah Bennett, Wilson Wilmarth, Frank Johnson, Jr.,
Robert Burns, Anne Manvel; LIBRARY STAFF -- Larry Webber,
Robert Holzfaster, Jane Davis.
The regular board meeting was preceeded by a public musical program of
chamber music presented by two groups from Rocky Mountain High School
under the direction of Herb Goodrich.
The meeting was called to order by the president, Sarah Bennett. The
minutes of the previous meeting were approved as corrected. The board
president complimented the staff on the dedication. She also asked the
board to read the Triangle Review editorial of November 3, 1976.
The board was brought up-to-date on the sub -contractor's progress in
finishing up details of the building.
Plans for National Children's Book Week and Robert Newton Peck's visit
were discussed. Frank Johnson moved that the Library Board sponsor a
dinner for Robert Newton Peck on Wednesday, November 10, subject to
availability of facilities at the Holiday Inn and also subject to Wynette
Paine assuming responsibility for arrangements, tickets, and publicity.
Wilson Wilmarth seconded the motion. The motion carried. Use of a
piano in the library during Mr. Peck's visit was left up to the library
staff.
Discussion of an agenda for the library board meetings, preparation of a
board manual and of,the proper way to familiarize the board with special
programs the library is planning.
A review of the board by-laws was led by Anne Manvel. It was tabled for
completion at the December meeting.
Anne Manvel notified the board of her resignation from the board as of
December 4, 1976.
The meeting was then adjourned.
