PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
MINUTES -- REGULAR MEETING
APRIL 6, 1977 -- 7:30 p.m.

The meeting was called to order by the board president Sarah Bennett. The
agenda was approved and the minutes of the March 2, 1977, meeting were
approved as distributed.
The board reviewed the Public Notice Policy which had been tabled from the
March meeting. Frank Johnson moved its adoption. Bob Burns seconded the
motion. Wilson Wilmarth amended the motion to include a wording change in
the second paragraph. The amended motion passed.
The board discussed a meeting room use fee in light of more meeting rooms
being available at the Lincoln Center. The board felt that an attempt
should be made to have some sort of consistant city-wide policy for use of
these facilities. They asked that Larry Webber, library director, keep
them informed of efforts in this direction.
Further editorial work was done on the new by-laws. By consensus all articles
excepting Article II were approved as changed. The board will work on Article
II at the May meeting.
• REPORTS:
Jane Davis reported that in March, 31 hours of part-time hourly work time
was expended on the 8mm film service and that 227 of these films were
checked out by Fort Collins patrons.
Larry Webber reported that very few orders have been processed as yet
through Centralized Purchasing and Processing.
Larry Webber announded that the new library building had been given an
award by the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the American Concrete Institute.
Larry Webber informed the board that we are continuing to look into the
feasibility of a computer -based circulation system.

The joint meeting date with the county library board will be announced.
The summer reading program will again be held during June and July, and
Poudre R-1 will again be cooperating, though not as many school media
centers will be open as in previous years.
Larry Webber announced the topics for Friends of the Library programs
through December, 1977.
Mr. Webber also announced that the old museum building will go down in
April with the rest of the landscaping to follow at once.

A letter to Ron Wood,City Finance Director, was distributed explaining
the status of the gift and memorial monies given to the library,
Larry Webber announced that he will keep the board informed about the
budget preparation sessions.
The meeting was then adjourned.
