PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
MINUTES -- REGULAR MEETING
JUNE 2, 1977 -- 7:30 p.m.

PRESENT: BOARD -- Sarah Bennett, Wilson Wilmarth, Frank Johnson, Jr., Joan
Deines, Robert Burns; LIBRARY STAFF -- Larry Webber,
Jane Davis; FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY -- Phyllis Mattingly;
HIGH PLAINS LIBRARY SYSTEM -- Ron Stump.
The meeting was called to order by the board president, Sarah Bennett. The
order of the agenda was changed in order that Ron Stump might make his pre-
sentation on automation of library inventory and circulation systems first.
Added to the agenda were setting a July meeting date and announcement of a
budget hearing.
Ron Stump, Director of the High Plains Regional Library System, spoke to the
board giving background on the feasibility and cost of computer -based cir-
culation - inventory systems within the library system, Larimer County
libraries and the Fort Collins Public Library. He showed the various alter-
natives open and the related costs.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as distributed.
During discussion of the revision of the Library Board by-laws, Frank Johnson
moved that Article II - Duties of the Board read as follows:
The duties of the Board of Directors of the Public Library
are those prescribed by the City of Fort Collins Charter,
Section II, Article XX, as amended April 5, 1977.
Robert Burns seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Larry Webber reported on the building and also on the status of the plaque
for the building.
Jane Davis reported on the 8mm film collection.
Larry Webber reported on Centralized Purchasing and Processing and on the
Institute on Community Analysis that he had recently attended.
The board set its July meeting date, July 19, at 7:30 p.m.

The board expressed its appreciation to Wilson Wilmarth for his service to
the board, the library, and the community.
The meeting was then adjourned.
