PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
MINUTES -- REGULAR MEETING
NOVEMBER 11, 1986
BOARD MEMBERS: Christine Kneeland, President
Polly Walters, Vice-president
Don Morgan
Lloyd Spawn
Catherine Fine
Greg Auble
Kate Erslev
PRESENT: LIBRARY BOARD - Polly Walters, Catherine Fine, Lloyd Spawn, Greg
Auble, Kate Erslev; LIBRARY STAFF -- Jane Davis, Robert
Holzfaster.
The meeting was called to order by the Vice-president, Polly Walters. The
minutes of the October meeting were approved as distributed.
The library statistical report for October was distributed. Materials
check-out is 10% over 1985.
Jane Davis, Library Director, reported that the Larimer County Video
Cooperative has now expanded from the original three libraries to include
fourteen libraries in Weld and Larimer Counties and has actually become the
Larimer-Weld Video Coop. No further growth of the group is expected unless
Berthoud Public Library wants to join.
Ms. Davis announced that the library would be closed December 15 through 19
for the lighting work on the second floor. Replacement of the carpeting on
the main stairs will also be replaced during this time period. Health and
safety factors make it necessary to close the building while the work is
being done.
Ms. Davis reported that library fines will increase from five to ten cents
a day and the maximum fine from $1.00 per item to $2.00 per item as of
January 1, 1987. Added funds generated will go into the library materials
budget for 1987.
Under Old Business, Jane Davis distributed the library staff wish list to
the group. Discussion then centered on how to use the information to reach
the public, who the target population should be, how they might be
contacted, other items which might be included. It was decided that Polly
Walters and Kate Erslev would serve as an ad hoc committee to look at the
options and process and report back to the group in December. In the
meantime Kate Erslev will put together a "wish book" using the material
from the list. This can be put in the library lobby as soon as it is
finished. It will be put together like one done at the Albany County
Public Library in Laramie, Wyoming.
Also under Old Business, Catherine Fine and J. Don Morgan were appointed to
work with a three person committee from the Fort Collins Historical Society
to identify a satisfactory way to honor Charlene Tresner for her work in
developing the local history collection.
DFiane Hogarty, Executive Director of the Fort Collins Foundation, will
speak to the Board at the December meeting.
The meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Jane B. Davis
