PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
MINUTES -- REGULAR MEETING
MARCH 10, 1987

GUEST -- Nancy Knepel, Director, High Plains Regional Library
Service System.
The meeting was called to order by the President, Christine Kneeland. The
minutes of the February meeting were approved as distributed..
Robert Holzfaster, Administrative Aide, distributed the statistical report
for February. Library use is up slightly over 1986.
Jane Davis, Library Director, reminded he group that Daniel Schorr,
currently senior news analyst with National Public Radio, will speak at the
Lincoln Center on March 26 at 7:30 p.m. His topic will be "What Price
Freedom? Free Press in a Free Society."
Ms. Davis reported that Ellen Willis had received the City's ABC award for
January. The award was presented by City Manager Steve Burkett for service
to the public "above and beyond the call of duty."
Under Old Business, the members present decided to hold off discussion of
the role of the Board until the April meeting. The process will be as
follows:
- Look at what the Board has done in the past.
- Look at what the group wants to continue to do and to build on.
- Brainstorm goals and objectives for the future.
Nancy Knepel from High Plains will facilitate the brainstorming session.
Christine Kneeland read a letter from Doris Greenacre, President of the
Fort Collins Historical Society. The Historical Society Board has voted to
have one complete set of Colorado Magazine bound in honor of Charlene
Tresner. Each volume will be so marked with a book plate. Board members
were pleased with this decision.
Under New Business, Jane Davis distributed a draft copy of a new suggestion
form. Board members had several recommended changes. They will be
