PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
MINUTES -- REGULAR MEETING
DECEMBER 8, 1987 7:00 P.M.

STAFF -- Jane Davis, Robert Holzfaster.
The meeting was called to order by the Chairperson, Christine Kneeland.
The minutes of the November meeting were approved as distributed.
Jane Davis, Library Director, read a reminder from the City Clerk that
Boards and Commissions annual reports are due by January 28. Jar Davis
and Christine Kneeland will draft a report for the members to finalize at
the January meeting.
Robert Holzfaster, Administrative Aide, distributed library statistics for
November 1987.
Christine Kneeland reported that a copy of the group's goals and objectives
had been sent to the City Clerk. She suggested that copies, with a cover
memo identifying goal #2 as the group's major objective for 1988, be sent
to each Councilmember. The members agreed.
Ms. Kneeland reported that she had applied for and been interviewed for the
executive committee of Choices 95. She had also indicated that she would
be willing to work on the Choices 95 Cultural/Library subcommittee. She
hopes to be appointed to one of the committees.
Jane Davis reported that citizens of the City of Boulder had voted in
November to raise taxes but had voted not to earmark the money for the
library. However the yes vote does guarantee 14 million dollars bonding
for new library facilities.
Under Old Business the group discussed the library study. Jane Davis
distributed copies of statistical information she had gathered from the
City and from Poudre R-1. Board members asked that Ms. Davis also query
the Chamber and Fort Collins, Inc., for community statistics. They also
suggested finding out what cities A-B had looked at and what Colorado
communities U.S. West was looking at so that we could compare ourselves to
them.
Kate Erslev asked about the date of the reception unveiling the women's
collection. The reception will be at 7:30, March 10, in the Delatour
Meeting Room.
Under New Business, Virginia Ward asked why the Coloradoan microfiche had
so many duplicate pages photographed. Jane Davis said sie ould check with
the Reference staff and find out.
The meeting was adjourned.
