The meeting was called to order by the Chairman. The minutes of the
last meeting were read and approved.
This June 24 meeting was to take the place of the July meeting. A
motion was made and carried that we not have a meeting in August unless
something important came up.
Discussion was brought up about how and when a non -active member be
replaced on the Commission. Ralph Braden stated that our by-laws are clear
enough that the City Council may replace any non -active member at any time.
The Commission now has two vacancies. Names were suggested and discussed
for possible members.
Mrs. Atherly said we would set up a time in the fall for the news
media.
A letter of resignations was read from Earl Kiely.
Dr. Baird reported the final contacts with Mr. Singh. Mr. Braden
suggested we write a letter of apology to Mr. Singh and also a letter to
the Chamber of Commerce informing them of this business.
A letter from Chief Smith was read regarding the P.R. Bonds (Personal
Recognizance).
Mr. Tate brought up a couple of complaints which are now being investi-
gated by the Civil Rights Commission.
