Ali r..emb ers of the Board were present. Also present at the invitation of the Board, in addition to Mr. Webber and Mrs. Thornburg, were the following staff members: Robert Holzfaster, Delores Moodie, ti lde Hobbs, and Helen Bennett. The Board approved the plan to close the Library on December 23 and 25, and on Dec- 30, 1972_ ana January 1, 1973. 1' The staff ^ambers had been requested to list their recommendations for the future of the library. 1. They would prefer the main library be at the present location. 2. Mrs. Hobbs suggestions a. Reference librarian needed b. Phone be relocated away from main desk c. Carpet throughout - Cheyenne good but needs humidity d. Old typewriters available for patron use - these should be near magazine area e. Magazines should not be circulated when population increases f. Suitable display space for art prints g. Separate offices, partial glass partitions h. Comfortable reading area. i. Study carrels and tables and chairs j. .Drinking fountain k. Public phone 1. Emergency light source m. Lobby with space for bulletin board, and double doors to stop drafts n. Arrangement so some areas could be opened when library is closed o. Staff room with long lockers, kitchenette unit with oven p. Public lavatories adequate for handicapped q. Cheyenne has kiddie strollers and wheel chairs available for patron use r. Longmont has big freight elevator - could handle -wheel chairs 3. Helen Bennett a. Catalog should be accessible from work area b. Large, open area for work (Cheyenne) c. Sink d. Easy access for shipment of books e. Separate from public service area f. No swinging doors g. Lights should not buzz h. An outside book drop on driver's side of cars i. Entrance to building should be obvious to approaching patrons Ni f j. ae oot ceilings k. Electric outlets and exhaust fan for garage c. Automatic doors d. Storage space for tools e. Fire doors f. Water outlet in garage g. Outside door other than for cars h. Office for bookmobile with phone and 2-way radio 5. Other suggestions -a. Smoking area b. Areas for listening to records c. Mrs. Thornburg - work room for janitors I I
