HomeMy WebLinkAboutLibrary Board - Minutes - 04/19/1972• Oril 19, 1972 The Fort Collins City Library Board met in the'children's room with Sarah Bennett presiding. Minutes of the March, 1972 meeting were dispensed with. John Wiles, a CSU graduate student in public relations, was introduced. As a class assignment he has been working with Mr. Webber on news releases for National Library Week. As a further assignment he plans a brochure on library services. Also discussed was a survey to be conducted by future students. Louise Ronco moved that a brochure made up by John Wiles be approved by Sarah Bennett and Dave Watrous for publication and distribution. The approval would include contents and cost. It was seconded by Frank Johnson and passed. A motion by Louise Ronco and seconded by Frank Johnson rejecting a cash offer for the sale of old books was passed. The Board also stipulated books should be appraised before being offered for sale. No offers from the public for books should be considered without much consideration. Questions asked on Library Card applications should be handled by the staff with diplomacy. Library Board election of officers will be in May. The Board will pay close attention to the developement of the Community School concept. The librarian will investigate the possibility of housing the Fort Collins Arts and Humanities display. A disappointing number of books (60 in 3 days) have been returned during.the fine amnesty week. "Larry Webber will discuss possible prosecution for lost or overdue books with Mr.Wyatt. Larry Webber will check on price of a projector for films from our collection and various other sources. The Story Hour Workshop was attended by 110 persons from Wyoming and Colorado. The Oral History Workshop had 39 in attendance. The sessions were very helpful to all concerned. The entire May Board meeting will be devoted to the inhouse survey. Work on the 1973 buedget will commence in June.
