HomeMy WebLinkAboutLibrary Board - Minutes - 05/19/1971May 19, 1971 The reefing of the Fort Collins City Library Board was called to order in Mr. Webber's office at 7:30 p.m. Present were Board members: Mrs. Sarah Bennett, Mrs. Louise Ronco, Mrs. Lois Henry, Mr. David Watrous, and Mr. Frank Johnson, .Jr., the new member;-Yr. Webber and Mrs. Thornburg of the library staff; Mrs. Kay McQuiddy, president of the Friends of the Library; and Mr. Virgil Magerfleish of the Designing Tomorrow today committee. Minutes of the April meeting were read and approved. Mr. Webber reported the city would repair two areas of the roof which should take care of leaks. Storage space for surplus furniture was not yet decided on. The Boy Scouts were to assist in the job of moving books. Mrs. McQuiddy reported the Story Hour workshop had been successful with 38 at the luncheon. She also reported there would be no story hour during the summer but contact with the mothers would be maintained by a home phone program. F Friends of the Library had held eleven book auctions which provided about $1,000, and the magazine sales had amounted to about another $100. This money was used to purchase furniture, revolving racks, books, etc. for the library. The Friends' project of photographing the picture collection is to be continued. Mrs. McQuiddy reported 61 persons had been eligible to voteā€¢at the recent election. Mr. Magerfleish explained the objectives of the community organization for Designing Tomorrow Today, namely to make a complete inventory of the city's facilities and needs - cultural, social, recreational. He asked that the Library outline what would be a desireable situation for perhaps ten years from now. As is customary at the May meeting an election of officers was called for. Mr. Watrous moved that the present officers be retained in their respective jobs. Mrs. Ronco seconded, and the motion passed. The officers are Mrs. Sarah Bennett, president; Mrs. Louise Ronco, Vice President; and Mrs. Henry, Secretary. The next meeting will be on the regular date in June - the third Wednesday evening to begin considering the 1972 budget. - Lois H. Henry, Secretary "\
