PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING
OCTOBER 9, 1990 - 7:00 P.M.

The meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m. by the Chairperson, Virginia
Ward. The minutes of the September meeting were approved as distributed.
Reports
Robert Holzfaster, Administrative Aide, distributed the statistical report
for September. Board members noted a total of 276,770 library visits in
the first nine months of 1990.
Jane Davis, Library Director, reported that 15 public access terminals are
now installed. One more will be installed this week on the Reference
Service desk.
Ms. Davis also reported that gift certificates had been purchased, the
contest winners had been notified and the winning entries plus those
determined to be in a runner-up category were now on display in the
children's area. The Board asked Ms. Davis to sent out a news release
announcing the winners. Kate Erslev will contact the Triangle and the
Coloradoan to encourage some newspaper coverage. Board will decide in
February whether to sponsor a 1991 authors in the park event.
Ms. Davis reported that the 1991 budget, to be approved by Council on
October 16, would include all funding for the first year of the library
development plan. Jerry Roselle moved the Board Chairperson, Ms. Ward,
write a letter to the Mayor and Council expressing their appreciation of
Council support for library development. Kate Erslev seconded the motion.
All voted favorably on the motion.
Ms. Davis reported the Fort Collins Friends of the Library had grossed just
under $10,000 at their annual used book sale held October 5, 6 and 7 at
Foothills Fashion Mall.
Greg Auble reported on the Library Fund Advisory Committee meeting held
October 4. All members of the committee were present. The committee will
meet again in November. John Pfeiffenberger will chair the group with Joan
Chambers as vice -chair. Jane Davis will serve as secretary pro-tem.
