HomeMy WebLinkAboutParks And Recreation Board - Minutes - 02/17/1970FORT COLLINS PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD Minutes, February 17, 1970 The regular meeting of the Fort Collins Parks and Recreation Advisory Board was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by the chairman, Mr. C. W. Peterson. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mick, new managers of Tico, reported on the Christmas dance, presented a financial report of Club Tico, and noted that repairs to the building have been done. A letter has been sent to City Council regarding new park areas. After discussion about property for a park in the northwest area of Fort Collins, Mr. J. R. French suggested that land south of Irish School (owned by Poudre R-1 School District) might be developed as a possible park. There was also discussion about a plan to be developed which will define areas included in various kinds of parkst community, neighborhood, mini, etc. Mrs. W. 0. Eddy moved that priorities for land be roughly A, B, C, D, and E, as depicted on a map,made for the purpose of showing where parks are needed, with adjustments as necessary to be worked out. The motion was seconded by Mr. Gary Garwood and unanimously carried. Mr H. R. Phillips showed pictures of playground equipment to be ordered for City Park. The Board approved the proposed purchases. Mr. Larry James presented a plan for purchase and placement of equipment donated by the Elks Club for Edora Park. The plan was accepted. Mr. James reported that judo and gymnastics have been popular programs. The suggestion was made that the swimming pool committee start again on their plans for a swimming pool.
