HomeMy WebLinkAboutParks And Recreation Board - Minutes - 07/15/1969M FORT COLLINS PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY HOARD invite July 150 1969 The regular meeting of the Fort Collins Parks and Recreation Advisory Hoard was called to order by the chairman, Mr. C. W. Peterson, at 7:00 p.m., July 15, 1969. The minutes of the June meeting were approved. A proposed recommendation to the City Council for administration of municipal golf courses was presented. Minor editorial changes were made, and it was decided to table any action until after the meeting of the directors of the Fort Collins Golf Association. Three parents representing the White Surf Swim Club presented a proposal to form and perpetuate a competitive swim team open to all young awl— ra in Fort Collins. Dr. <Lo'>ert Pike moved that the Hoard sanction the proposal. lira. W. 0. Eddy seconded the motion and it was unanimously carried. The parents were thanked for their interest sad given assurance that their program would be supported. Mrs. Dan Docwhoe reported on the steering ccmmittee for the proposed indoor cwimmin3 pool. It was the feeling of the Hoard that there should be a joint meeting of the City Council and the Board of Education to work out financing for the pool. A latter will be sent to the Council and to the Board of Education requesting that the matter be placed on the agendas for their next meetings. Opinion was expressed that the swimming pool financing should be a part of the next public school bond proposal and election. hr. U. R. Phillipa reported that the budget for the next fiscal year is being prepared. He suggested that some members of the Board be available as a finance committee to assist with presentation of the budget. Important additions to the budget will be requests for another full-time recreation staff member and two or three part-time. staff members in both parks and recreation.
