MARCH 20, 1991 LINCOLN CENTER PRESENT: Jane Folsom, Craig Swing, Alison White, Jane Nevrivy, Kathryn Stubler, Karen Warren, Bill Kneeland STAFF: Mark Breimhorst, Brian Moroney, David Siever GUESTS: Kathryn Garcia - CVB Liason I. Call to Order (Jane Folsom) 5:40 PM II. Consideration of tonight's agenda No changes III. Consideration of minutes of Feb. 27, 1991 Bill Kneeland moved Alison White seconded Passed unanimously IV. Staff Reports Fort Collins Museum - Mr. Moroney Written report (See attached) Lincoln Center - Mr. Siever Written report (See attached) Initial plans for new carpeting were looked at by the Board. The design committee continues to work on colors and overall design. Next step will be to work on wall coverings. V. Committee Reports Museum - No report Convention And Visitors Bureau Report Liasons from the Cultural Resources Board to the Convention Visitors Bureau for the next six months were established: Karen Warren April 5th Alison White May loth Jane Nevrivy June 14th Craig Swing July 12th Jane Folsom August 9th Kathryn Stubler September 13th Meetings are held at 7:30 AM in the First Interstate Board Room 41/ Magnolia Street • Fort Collins, CO 80521-2646 • (303) 221-6735 • FAX (303) 484-0424 0 • Lincoln Center Board Monthly meeting March 21 National Heritage Corridor - No report School Superintendent Review Committee - Jane Nevrivy represented the Cultural Resources Board as liason. It was a good process and everyone is happy with the choice of the new superintendent Historic Preservation - Jane Nevrivy Jane asked for input on nominations for awards for Historic Preservation during Preservation Week May 13-18. The Board suggested that the Museum be nominated for preservation of the collection and all the work done during the infestation period. Report from Kathryn Garcia - Convention and Visitors Bureau - On April 19th the Colorado Consortium of Community Arts Councils will hold an all day conference. Mike Farrell from Saint Louis will be the guest speaker. His portion of the program will be from 10 AM to 3:30 PM. The fee is $15.00 for non-members. Chamber of Commerce Arts and Business Partnership - Jane Folsom - Vicky Abar (Denver Arts Partnership) presented a session on the Colorado Business Council for the Arts, which melds Business and the Arts together. The Chamber will hold a Business After Hours at the Lincoln Center on Thursday March 21, which will focus on the various Chamber partner- ships. Members are urged to attend. VI. Feasibility Study The outcome of work session on Community Pool was a decision to build a new pool rather than renovation of the current pool. Glaser/Winston gave the presentation at work session. Jane Folsom gave report on worksession to the Board. May 7th, resolution goes to City Council authorizing the Cultural Resources Board to do a community plan. VII. Community Plan Two meetings were set to discuss the plan. A work session was set for April 3rd at 5:30 at Lincoln Center and May lth for the regular meeting. May 7th is the Council meeting and next regular meeting of the Board is May 22nd at Lincoln Center. (NOTE: at worksession April 3rd, regular April meeting changed from May 1st to April 24th U VIII. Other Business A request from the Fort Collins Symphony to change dates for their Chamber Orchestra concert was approved by the Board. The Board received a letter from the Mayor re: 1992 budget requests from Board and Commissions was received. This will be discussed at the work session on April 3rd. IX. The Series includes: Sleeping Beauty - Feb 7 Laudis Magic Show - Feb 21 Trent Arterberry - March 20 Peter and The Wolf - April 16 Showstopper Series Update -Two shows remain to be booked. -One addition since last month has been Barbara Mandrell. Series includes: Barbara Mandrell - Sept 16 Ziegfield - Feb 19-20 Late Great Ladies of Blues and Jazz - March 4-5 Bulgarian Womens Chorus - March 26-27 Driving Miss Daisy - April 25-26 Dance Series Update -Final date has been set. The Series includes: Pilobolus - Oct 30 American Tap Dance Orchestra - Nov 15 Jubilation - Feb 12 Ballet Trocaderos - April 10 Caret Replacement The The design committee has met twice this month and will meet at least two more times. Color and design needs to be decided by April loth. After the carpet decision has been made the committee will begin on wallcovering, paint, etc. The committee is working on a bright, fun, low maintenance carpet. Volunteer Reception Tentative date for the reception to honor Lincoln Center volunteers is set for May 23rd in the early evening. Romeo and Juliet Special Performance The special performance for all ninth grade students will be at 10 am on Friday March 29th. The performance is being underwritten by: -Hewlett Packard - $1,000 -NCR - $1,000 -Lincoln Center Support League - $750 -Lincoln Center FANS - $750 Students will pay $2 per ticket. So far this year we have had seven receptions booked. Cindy Ryk, scheduling coordinator, has been actively marketing the Terrace area. Coloradoan Award The Coloradoan won 1st place in the media category at the Colorado Business Committee for the Arts banquet. It was held at the Denver Art Museum on March 5th. Lincoln Center nominated the Coloradoan for instituting "Ticket" the weekly arts magazine. srj FORT COLLINS MUSEUM March 20, 1991 Monthly Report — Outline I. Collections A. Third truck load taken to freezer March 18 to be re —installed March 21 through March 24. B. Building fumigated March 19 through 21. C. Freezer to be purchased for in—house de —infestation (as a part of the process of accepting new items into the collection) II. Exhibits A. Urban Wildlife Exhibit from Denver Museum of Natural History cancelled (traveling exhibit too large for gallery). To be replaced by selections from the Harmson collection — paintings and navajo textiles. To open on April 26. III. Programs —Volunteers A. Volunteer training session conducted March 14. B. Volunteers are the mainstay of the packing and re —installation process. C. Museum to be a focal point in Historic Preservation Week, May 13 through May 18. IV. Administration A. Museum is one of the host institutions for the American Association of Museums' Annual Meeting May 19 through May 23. Staff will assist in support capacity. B. Good media coverage for freezing and fumigation process.
