Projects such as the Opera House, Linden Hotel, and Block 31 redevelopment
were a continuation of past DDA efforts for large-scale capital
improvements. Others, such as the motorized trolley, centralized retail
management, marketing, and business development were reflective of the Board
of DirectoWtrdesire to move the Authority into programs having a positive
effect on existing businesses downtown and in improving the overall
environment of the central business district.
Four new members were appointed to the Board of Directors in 1988: Rick
Goodale, Alice Auer Connor, Carey Hewitt, and Jim Martell. Councilperson
Larry Estrada was appointed as City Council liaison to the DDA for the
second time and Loren Maxey served as the Council alternate.
Finally, the Downtown Development Authority relocated its administrative
offices to #1 Old Town Square, Suite 200, and now occupies space in the
first significant project it was ever involved with.
