1992 ANNUAL REPORT
In 1992, the Downtown Development Authority continued its efforts
to fulfill the following major objectives:
1. Redevelopment of the Linden Hotel. During 1992, the
Authority worked with five different groups interested
in redeveloping this key historic property. It is
currently involved with yet another effort.
2. Reintegration of the Poudre River into the fabric of
downtown. The DDA has and continues to work with Bruce
Hendee and his Riverwalk concept.
3. Smaller project support including facade renovations.
In 1992, the Authority participated in the improvements
to the Old Walgreen's building and made commitments to
help with three other properties including the recently
vacated Woolworth's.
In addition to the above, the Authority was involved with the
following projects/issues:
1.
Relocation of its administrative offices to One West Arts
Center. The Authority's move helped to
provide
additional cashflow to the Arts Center.
2.
Refunding of the 1988 tax increment bonds.
3.
The new Senior Center --The Authority
worked
unsuccessfully to keep this important community
facility
in the central business district.
4.
General Improvement District continuation and
project
priorities.
5.
The Canyon Avenue Artwalk.
6.
Relocation of the Platte Valley Lumber Company.
7.
Re -use of the Old Power Plant.
8.
Acquisition of the LaPorte/America Lot.
9.
Affordable Housing task force.
10.
Establishment of a new Transfort route running
through
the central business district.
