DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
1993 ANNUAL REPORT
In 1993, the Downtown Development Authority brought closure to a
number of long-standing issues and projects:
1. Obtained formal public financial commitment for the
Linden Hotel redevelopment. This major step should
result in the building's renovation in 1994.
2. Helped in the sale and financial restructuring of the
Opera Galleria. With new ownership and substantially
reduced overhead, the project should lease up in 1994.
3. Resolved significant property tax issues with Old Town
Square.
4. Participated in three building facade renovation programs
including 214 Pine Street, the Woolworth's Building and
the Shanahan Building.
In addition to the above, the Authority was involved with the
following projects/issues:
*General Improvement District planning.
*Acquisition of the LaPorte/America parking lot.
*Establishment of a State Enterprise Zone.
*Hiring a new Downtown Business Assoc Executive Director.
*Poudre Riverwalk concept.
*Lease -Purchase of the property at 185 North College.
*Relocation of two engineering firms.
*Alternate transportation corridor.
*Establishment of the Fort Collins Historic Development
Corporation.
*Downtown vending.
*Two fine arts theatres.
