DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
1990 Workplan
At its retreat in October, 1989, the Downtown Development Authority Board of
Directors established three areas of focus for 1990. These are:
1. Future of the Downtown Development Authority. Staff is directed to
analyze all options for the DDA as its timeframe for funding
capital improvements through bonded indebtedness draws to a close.
The options include:
A. Abolishing the Authority;
B. Rolling the Authority into a new organization such as an urban
renewal authority, a new downtown development authority, a
business improvement district, or some other, as yet
unidentified, entity;
C. Merging the Authority with the City;
D. Leaving the Authority as is, but reformulating its mission.
2. Continue work on the development of a hotel/convention center
complex in the central business district.
3. Continue to work on the redevelopment of significant existing
properties in the central business district.
