Minutes - April 21, 1970
The regular meeting of the Fort Collins Parke and Recreation Advisory Board
was held in the City Council Chambers at 1OO p.m. with Mr. C. W. Peterson
presiding.
The minutes of the March meeting were approved.
Mrs. Kathy Mick, manager of Club Tico, reported on the activities and finan-
cial status of Club Tico. Miss Linda Downing, President of Club Tico Board,
reported on some new activities which will be tried this spring: a concert
on April 30 with four bands playing without charge, a senior breakfast and
dance on a morning following high school graduations at both Poudre and FCHS,
and a masquerade ball. The concert and masquerade ball will be fund-raising
projects.
Officer Black of the Juvenile Division of the Fort Collins Police Department
requested that an additional police officer be hired during the summer on the
nights Club Tico is open. Mr. H. R. Phillips agreed that this could be done.
Mr. H. D. (Lou) Jorgenson presented a proposal for a day camp to be operated
at Red Feather Lakes Monday through Friday from June 15 to August 14. This
is a private business operation. He listed fees, activities, methods of
operation, and provision for transportation to and from the camp. He asked
permission to use the Parks and Recreation office as a registration site
for camp participants, with the understanding that he would pay all expenses
connected with this procedure to the Parks and Recreation office. Dr. Robert
Pike moved that the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board heartily endorse the
Red Feather Ranch Cay Camp with H. A. Jorgenson as director and cooperate in
every way to assist with sign-ups for the summer of 1970-1971. Mr. Gary Garwood
seconded the motion. Discussion of this motion directed both the office staff
and lir. Jorgenson to obtain letters from the insurance carrier for the city
to state the limits of liability for this action. There was support for the

a one -season program and is not to be considered precedent -setting action.
The motion carried.
