PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD
MINUTES - Special Meeting: December 18, 1980.
The meeting was called to order at 6:30 P.M. by Chairman Chuck Mayhugh.
The minutes of the meeting of December 9, 1980, were unanimously approved
as corrected. (The 5th paragraph of the "Development of Rolland Moore
Park" item should actually end, "....approved by the Board and sent to
the City Manager".)
POOL/ICE RINK DISCUSSION
Chairman Mayhugh advised those present of this Board's recommendation to
City Council that G.O. Bonds totalling approximately $5 million to complete
work and development in several park sites, be placed on the ballot in the
April city-wide election.
The meeting was then opened to discussion on the Ice Rink/Swimming Pool
Project. Don Borgeson voiced concern that this project was not included
in the Board's proposal for the G.O. Bonds. Peter Jacobs expressed
frustration that much of their group's efforts have gone unheeded. Most
of the discussion then centered around whether the two issues should be
combined as one ballot issue, or go on the ballot as separate issues.
Members of the pool/rink group made it clear they intended to have their
issue on the ballot one way or another.
Don Borgeson summarized their position by stating that they want badly to
go on the ballot combined with the Board's proposal. He stated that they
are willing to scale down their project, if that was necessary.
Chairman Mayhugh said that any information could be forwarded to him and
he would then present it for consideration by the Board.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 P.M.
