STATUS/UPDATE ON CITY POOLS
- H. R. presented the problems being experienced with the city swimming pools.
Jean discussed some of the problems with the outdoor pool. Some renovation is
being done with the bathhouse, hopeful that there will be funds for additional
work before the pool is opened in the spring.
- Jean passed out pictures to the Board which highlighted some of the problems
with the Indoor Pool. Humidity and moisture have caused some very serious
problems with the structure and the mechanical systems of same. Professional
analysis done, indicates the heating and air conditioning systems are totally
inadequate to handle the facility.
- Considerable discussion was held concerning the matter. It was explained that
the City Council and the School Board are jointly addressing possible solutions.
Staff then took members on a tour of the facility to view problems. Board members
were astounded at the problems observed and expressed strong support of staff
actions to address these problems. Bob Aukerman further encouraged definite
actions directed at the basic situations creating the problems and not simply
addressing the symptoms.
