Council Liaison : Ray Martinez II Staff Liaison: Aimee Jensen A regular meeting of the Liquor Licensing Authority was held on January 27, 2003 in Municipal Court, Justice Center, 201 LaPorte. Judge Kathleen M. Lane presiding. Staff in attendance: Teresa Ablao, Assistant City Attorney Robert Younger, Liquor Enforcement Officer Aimee Jensen, Deputy City Clerk Agenda Review Deputy City Clerk Jensen stated there will be a summary suspension hearing for Johnny's Place, 185 North College Avenue during Other Business. Hearing on a New Application from Chan's Chinatown Bistro, Inc., for a Hotel -Restaurant Liquor License at Chan's Chinatown Bistro, 4200 South College Avenue Annroved Yong Wang and Khuong Tang, representatives for Chan's Chinatown Bistro, Inc., were sworn. Mr. Wang briefly described his background. He stated he received training from the previous owner. Mr. Wang stated he not had a liquor code violation. He stated alcohol sales will only be 3-5% of gross sales. Mr. Wang stated he does not have a copy of the liquor code on premise. He briefly described the petitioning process. Judge Lane adopted Resolution 2003 - 01 approving an application from Chan's Chinatown Bistro, Inc., for a hotel -restaurant liquor license at Chan's Chinatown Bistro, 4200 South College Avenue. January 27, 2003 Show -Cause Hearing for Lin Bo, dba China and Japan Restaurant, 902 West Drake Road. #1. License Revoked Assistant City Attorney Ablao stated that Lin Bo no longer has a valid lease. She requested that the Liquor Licensing Authority revoke this license for not maintaining possession of the licensed premises as indicated by the landlord. Judge Lane noted the licensee, Lin Bo, was not present. Judge Lane revoked the beer and wine license held by Lin Bo, dba China and Japan Restaurant, 902 West Drake Road, #1, effectively immediately. Summary Suspension Hearing for Johnny's Place,185 North College Avenue, License Summarily Suspended until February 3.2003 Assistant City Attorney Ablao detailed the events leading up to this request to summarily suspend the tavern liquor license at Johnny's Place, 185 North College Avenue. She stated the Licensee's repeated violations in less than two months evidences a deliberate and willful violation of the Liquor Code and given frequency of said violations, it is imperative tot he public health, safety and welfare that emergency action be taken. Judge Lane summarily suspended the tavern liquor license at Johnny's Place,185 North College Avenue until February 3, 2003 to be heard with a previously scheduled show -cause hearing for an alleged violation.
