HomeMy WebLinkAboutLibrary Board - Minutes - 01/09/1996r- CITY OF FORT COLLINS PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD INIINUTES - LIBRARY BOARD RETREAT Ben Delatour Room - Fort Collins Public Library January 9, 1996 - 5:30 p.m. PRESENT: LIBRARY BOARD: Al Stone, Al Bednarz, Karen Domseif, Anne Ostrye-Macdonald, Jack Steele, Jacqueline Wallace, M. Madeleine Wawro CITY STAFF: Linda Saferite, Marjorie Teklits FACILITATOR: Nancy Knepel, Director, High Plains Regional Library Service System Following introductions, the Library Board reviewed their accomplishments from the 1995 Work Plan and outlined which tasks will continue into the 1996 Work Plan. Among accomplishments were the completion and analysis of a survey on library services to 2,000 randomly selected residents, the opening of the Mini Library, Board participation at School Board meetings, letters to the newspaper editor, telephone call support, attendance at City Council meetings in support of the branch library, the updating of a long range services plan entitled "Into the 21st Century", an Annual Work Plan, the revitalization of the Library Fund Advisory Committee, support of Library volunteers, strengthened ties with The Friends of the Library, representation on the Larimer County/City Civic Center Board, participation in the City Dialogue Process, as well as Library staff support and keeping current with developments at the Library. 1996 plans include the formation of a Community Relations Awareness task force to increase community interaction with the Library and a Capital Improvement Program task force to educate the public on the need for a new Main Library as well as to encourage inclusion of a new Main Library in the next round of City Capital Improvement Projects.
