Report
Mary Klopfenstein reviewed issue of citizen's group meetings reference the
vandalism and racial/ethnic slurs at Kopy Kat copy shop. Roy Jones, Mini-
ster, Unitarian Church, was present for the purpose of informing Human
Relations Commission on citizen group activities and to ask for whatever
assistance the Commission could offer.
Options for Response:
A. Should the Human Relations Commission approach the Poudre R-1 school
system about stressing values OR should the Commission select members
to serve on a citizen's commitTee that is examining the issue?
B. Should a formal complaint be made toward the Coloradoan about failure
to immediately report the incident?
C. Should John Feeley of the Coloradoan be contacted to discuss the
failure to report the incident?
D. Should the Police Department be contacted to discuss their failure to
attend citizen meetings concerning the issue?
E. Should the owner(s) of the copy shop be contacted for input?
( Decisions Reached:
• A. Mary Klopfenstein will contact someone at Police Department regarding
no one attending citizen group meetings.

B. Jeannine Smith will talk to owner(s) of copy shop to obtain their input.
C. Paul Loopo and Dennis Gatlin will contact Coloradoan for information
regarding coverage of incident.
A special meeting of the Commission will be held December 15, 1982, 6:30
p.m., in Dennis Gatlin's office, 502 W. Laurel, for reports of the above
members. The focus of the meeting will be how to respond to the copy shop
incident and other issues that have risen because of the incident.
III. Appointment to Standing Committees
A. HRC Award Committee: Steve Slaton, Chairperson; Jeannine Smith; Dennis
Gatlin; Barbara Kistler.
B. Boards and Commissions Committee: Appointments to be made at a later
date.
