Chairman, Tom Skillman, is out of town on business. The minutes of the September 15, 1982 meeting were approved unanimously, as corrected. The correction is on Page 2, "Renewal of Golf Pro Contracts", Paragraph 2, line 2, as follows: The word "Approved" should be "opposed". Letter of Concern From Mary Hodge The Golf Board received a letter from Mary Hodge, dated September 20, 1982, wherein she basically claims that the Collindale Women's Golf Association discriminated against her by not allowing her to participate in some Ladies' events, because she could not meet all the requirements of the C.W.G.A. By-laws/ Policies. She states, ..I feel my rights and privileges as a member of the public courses as associated with the C.W.G.A. have been greatly set back, and I would like to see a swing toward equal opportunity and a look at re -writing the By-laws ... to accommodate, not restrict, its entire membership..." Mary attended the meeting and verbally elaborated on her position. Also in attendance were Carol Ward and Anna Zier, incoming President of the C.W.G.A. who represented that group. Jerry P. Brown passed out excerpts from the C.W.G.A. Constitution and By-laws, and Policies, to Board members, for their information. After much discussion, the C.W.G.A. representatives agreed to try and meet with Mary to discuss her concerns. Jim Mitchell then made a motion, seconded by Carl Kansala, that the C.W.G.A. try to internally work out their own problems, and if this can't be done, to bring it back to the Golf Board. This passed unanimously. Jim Mitchell then made another motion, seconded by Carl Kansala, to form a Board Committee to look into all 'special -type' groups that play at Collindale and City Park Nine, and see what they are doing and what they have done in the past that benefit the courses. This also passed unanimously. Proposal For Fairway Markers/Advertising Signs Jerry P. Brown discussed a conceptual proposal from Fairways Marketing Corporation of Denver, to provide our courses with signs at each tee box showing the diagrams of each hole. Tasteful advertising space would be sold on each sign by Fairways Marketing Corporation, which we would thoroughly review, and have right of re- jection. Neil Johnson said the proposed signs would be of better quality than our existing signs at Collindale, and would cost us virtually no maintenance money. Fairways Marketing Corporation installs and maintains all the signs. Starting in the second year of an Agreement, we would receive a fee of $50 per sign/per year ($900 annually). The length of the Agreement would be five (5) years, plus a five-year option. We currently spend $500 to $600 annually on our existing signs at Collindale, making this proposal a $1,500 annual value to us. The Board agreed with staff to continue to look into the proposal. City Council Pineridge Report The Board reviewed the report prepared by staff on Pineridge. Jerry P. Brown informed the Board of the discussion at the City Council Work Session where they discussed Pineridge. Board members feel that the option for utilizing a portion of the Pineridge Open Space area should be left open for a potential golf coure in the future. Other Business - Board members received the letter of response from John Arnold regarding the Board's involvement in the South Ridge Golf Course. The Golf Board feels we should be more involved with SouthRidge, and copies of our memorandum to Mr. Arnold, and his response, should be made a part of the minutes, for future reference purposes. - Neil Johnson reported that the golf carts borrowed by both Rocky Mountain and Poudre High Schools, were returned in good condition, with no problems. The carts were used in their Homecoming ceremonies._ - There are no statistical reports this month due to illness of the Golf Fund Secretary. The meeting was adjourned at 9:10 P.M.
