Collindale Snack Bar Concession Proposal Process
The current Collindale Snack Bar agreement with Derek Cordova expires
December 31. Jerry P. Brown provided the Board with the mechanics of the
proposal process, including a tentative schedule for bidding activities,
the walk-through, the interviews, and review/approvals. A committee,
composed of two Golf Board Members, the president or representative from
both the Collindale Men's and Women's Golf Associations, Opal Dick from
Purchasing and Jerry P. Brown will review the proposals, conduct
interviews, and make a recommendation to the Golf Board. The Board and
staff will make a recommendation through the Purchasing Officer to the City
Manager. President Roger Sample appointed Terry Gilmore and Steve Jouard
(with Dan Preble as the alternate) to the committee. There were no
objections to the process outlined by staff.
1989 SouthRidge Proposed Budget
Staff previously distributed copies of documents submitted to the City by
Cliff Buckley for the 1989 SouthRidge Proposed Budget. The income and
expense projections for 1989 show total revenues of $513,345 and total
operating expenses of $400,472, with 1989 operating income estimated at
$112,873. Of that amount, $84,617 equals surcharge revenue, and $28,256 is
the net income from operations. Jerry noted the new costs in 1989 include
$14,000 for payments to the bookkeeper, and a $14,160 shortfall in capital
equipment/outlay expenses which still needs to be resolved. SouthRidge
green fees for 1989 are projected at $8.00 for 9-holes and $13.00 for
18-holes, up 50 cents each over 1988 rates.
Jerry referred to the memorandum prepared by Collindale Superintendent Neil
Johnson regarding the condition and needs of SouthRidge. Staff feels it is
very important to spend the funds for the Capital items, even if it means
lower net income. Jerry and Neil both feel that Mr. Buckley operates

SouthRidge on an extremely tight budget and there is very little room to
cut expenses. Board Members then asked several questions and all agreed
that it is imperative to keep SouthRidge in the best shape as possible,
even if it means spending more money on capital equipment and making less
net profit.
Other Business
- Neil Johnson said Collindale is "naturally in great shape." He does have
some concerns about the tree situation as we lost 26 trees in two
storms, and many other trees were damaged. Four of the 26 trees were in
strategic locations. However, we have received a donation of 30
replacement trees from Fossil Creek Nursery.
- Bill Metier said we had a real good season and received a minimal amount
of complaints.
- Roger Sample thanked staff for the recent Golf Board picnic/golfing
event.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:28 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
