GOLF BOARD
MINUTES: Regular Meeting - January 18, 1989
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Roger Sample.
Steve Jouard arrived at 7:38 p.m. All Board members were present,
including Alternate Member Terry Gilmore.
Agenda Review: No changes to the printed agenda.
Minutes: The minutes of the last meeting of October 19, 1988 were approved
unanimously, as submitted, on a motion by Dick Zubradt, seconded by Dan
Preble.
Citizen Participation: No citizen participation.
Election of Officers for 1989
Tom Skillman nominated Roger Sample for President, Iry Wilson seconded.
John Drescher moved to close the ballot. Iry Wilson moved to cast a
unanimous ballot to re-elect Roger Sample for President of the Golf Board
for 1989.
Dick Zubradt nominated Dan Preble for Vice President, Tom Skillman
seconded. John Drescher moved to close the ballot. Iry Wilson moved to
cast a unanimous ballot for Dan Preble for Vice President of the Golf Board
for 1989.
Dick Zubradt nominated Steve Jouard for Secretary, Tom Skillman seconded.
John Drescher moved to close the ballot. Iry Wilson moved to cast a
unanimous ballot for Steve Jouard for Board Secretary for 1989.
Collindale Snack Bar Concessionaire
Staff previously distributed a background report on the bid/proposal
process with recommendation for Derek Cordova to again be the
concessionaire. Committee members Terry Gilmore and Steve Jouard provided
further information on the process. Several Board members asked questions
and Terry and Steve responded. After further discussion, the Board on a
motion by Dick Zubradt, seconded by Tom Skillman, voted unanimously (7:0)
to recommend Derek Cordova to be the Collindale Snack Bar Concessionaire
for 1989/1990. The Board expressed their thanks to Terry Gilmore, Steve
Jouard, Opal Dick, Henry Fry, and Barbara Ault for their hard work in
selecting the concessionaire for Collindale.
Review of 1989 Work Plan/Meeting Schedule
Jerry P. Brown, Assistant to the Director, presented the Board with the
1989 work plan and meeting schedule. The plan was reviewed and approved as
submitted. It was decided that the March 15 Board meeting would probably
be cancelled due to Poudre R-1 Schools' spring break.
Other Business
- Golf Cars - It was agreed that no additional cars would be added at this
time at either City Park Nine or Collindale. During this discussion, it
was also agreed to enter into a lease/purchase agreement for the
acquisition of 15 E-Z Golf cars as per the recent bid.
- Neil Johnson, Collindale Superintendent, gave an update on Collindale
Golf Course. On January 21, they will try to remove the ice on the
greens in preparation for the 1989 golf season.
- Joe Nance, Assistant Golf Pro/Collindale, made some suggestions
regarding better control of our annual pass card system. Board members
asked Jerry to review the system to see if we need to improve it.
- Dick Zubradt noted that they are working on the 1989 Poudre R-1 Golf
teams schedule, stating that private funding would again be used as the
School District has opted to not fund golf.
- There was an open discussion regarding the financial condition of
SouthRidge Golf Course.
- Roger Sample mentioned attending the Golf Staff Christmas luncheon in
December.
- Jerry discussed the financial and statistical reports, noting that we
had 98,015 rounds of golf at Collindale and City Park Nine in 1989, a
new record, as well as 43,838 rounds at SouthRidge. The Golf Fund ended
up at 107 percent in revenues and at roughly 96 percent in revised
expenditures. We only exceeded the original budget by around $5,000.
- Staff distributed a report on Board Members' meeting attendance during
1988.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:42 p.m.
