The Board decided that the study room needs to be moved. Callie asked about computers. She said
one MAC and one IBM are the essentials for the study lounge, along with two sets of encyclopedias,
dictionaries, thesaurus, reference books, and if the computers have CD ROMs have the encyclopedias
and reference material on the CD's. Peggy said the list of donations so far are a big screen TV (46");
two 19 inch TVS; stereo equipment; couch, beanbag chairs, subscription to teen magazine. The
Board asked for Rolling Stones Magazine, People Magazine; suggestion was made for microwavable
vending snacks; sports drinks, i.e. "snapple"; Leticia said she doesn't want to support "snapple";
candy bars; pool tables; darts; and ping pong tables.
Will Smith said that the neighborhood has asked that the fencing around the grounds be taken down
and he feels that we need to address their requests. Peggy responded that this is still Poudre R-1's
facility and that we only lease a portion from them.
Peggy added that principals have suggested that clubs meet here. Citizen Stephanie Mosnik
suggested an acting club and a book club. Etirsa suggested craft classes; Abby said fitness, dance,
and craft classes that are offered to adults. Callie asked about a collection of text books for tutoring.
Suzy Danford said that the representatives should check with the principals from their schools. Abby
said she could check into this program.
Abby talked about Channel 4 news. They did a segment on how the teenagers have nothing to do
in Fort Collins and that the City is thinking of creating a youth center and adding more police officers.
Abby and Crissy Maxwell (individually) called Channel 4 and corrected this false reporting. Abby
said she will invite this reporter to the grand opening of the Youth Center.
Will said that he was on a retreat this weekend with a youth group who said they won't attend the
Youth Center because it's run by adults and that is where they want us to go and we won't go there.
He asked the Board Members to talk up the Youth Center to reach out to as many students as
possible. Etirsa said that on the "Name the facility contest" we could ask them about their feelings
on a youth center. Callie encourages the Board members to contact their representative schools.

The Board members updated last year's representation to the junior and senior high schools.
(Attached is a copy of the Board members list of schools they will represent).
